The year begins with fresh starts. Renewed laughter, romance and the rapture of seeing. The kind of renewal that raises you on your toes with the breeze. Birds in flight. Some things never change.

Bayside and a squid

I found myself bayside and a squid at my feet in the early evening. The child with his chocolate ice-cream asked me about death and ink. I began with a story about survival and ended with the ghost of a smile.

Felt the tailwind of 2009 flick up against my cheek. The new year approaches.
